What is hotel - what services can we find in hotel ?
What is hotel - general definition
Generaly a hotel is a a commercial establishment providing lodging, meals, and other guest services.
To be called a hotel, an establishment must have a minimum of six letting bedrooms (in some countries 10 bedrooms) , at least three of which must have attached (ensuite) private bathroom facilities.
Although hotels are classified into 'Star' categories (1-Star to 5-Star), there is no standard method of assigning these ratings, and compliance with customary requirements is voluntary. A US hotel with a certain rating, for example, is may look very different from a European or Asian hotel with the same rating, and would provide a different level of amenities, range of facilities, and quality of service.
Who uses hotels and why ?
The main customers of hotels that use hotel services are people leaving their usual place of residence and going to another city, sometimes another country for different purposes. If staying in a foreign place takes longer than one night - the person most often uses the hotel - as a place where you can sleep, eat, use the toilet and other amenities.
The purpose of travel and associated check-in in a hotel room can be:
Holiday stay - this mainly applies to tourist destinations
A broadly understood business: a professional, tradking or training meeting - such meetings often take place in large cities.
A trip related to cultural, entertainment and sports events, eg. Concert of the band, football or tennis match.
A trip of a social nature eg. date, romance, affair or meeting after years with friends from school
Regardless of the nature of the arrival to a given place - all hotel guests are provided with accommodation, meals and access to other catering and entertainment services.
Luxury hotels also offer assistance in many non-hotel aspects of travel, such as consulting, assistance in ordering a taxi, access to a safe, conference organization etc.
